To the children of Bernice Miller[Aunt Bernie], I just received the obit.for your mother. I was not aware that she passed away. We get the paper, but somehow missed it. No one told me til after the service. I SO much regret not being there. I wish I could have seen all of you. She was one of my favorite aunts. I remember all the good times we had when we were little, and I do remember her hospitality and her smile. Your all have done so much for her after she had the stroke. At other funerals her face would light up when she saw me, but she couldn't talk to me,but I knew she knew me. I do hope to see you all sometime again this side of heaven, even though all the aunts and uncles are gone except Aunt Anna Mary. Again, I wish we could have been there. God bless you all.

I have many good memories of times our family spent at Uncle Charlie and Aunt Bernie’s farm. It seemed Aunt Bernie always had a smile. I considered her the Pretty aunt.
I especially enjoyed the times our 2 families sang together. That’s where I learned the song ‘Constantly abiding, Jesus is mine….’
Now Aunt Bernie is abiding forever with Jesus and gloriously happy.
I am sorry for your loss; Robert, Paul, Stanley and Ruthann - and your families. Blessings and grace to you and yours.

Aunt Bernie was always pleasant. I have great memories of our families being together, trips to Bernville to see the Christmas lights, going to the cabin in Potter County, playing around the farm, singing together as families. One personal memory is after I was engaged to my fiance Mike and our families were together at their house. Robert, Paul and my husband, Mike and some of the other boys were playing football in the front yard and someone, somehow, (details could probably be debated) sent the football through the front window into the living room where the adults were visiting. If my memory is correct, Uncle Charlie and Aunt Bernie didn't get too rattled, took it in stride. I loved being with their family. God's peace and comfort to you all, Robert, Paul, Stanley and Ruth Ann...as you grieve your mom's passing.

There are so many memories. Our families sang together, went to Potter County together, had meals together and put up corn together by the dozens, boiling the cobs in her big black cauldron. But always there was a smile on her face. She was a warm and caring person. Even after she lost her speech, she had a smile and was engaging. What a testimony of joy and contentment. - Barb (Miller) Keener

Bernie was a gift to my father Harlan Nolt. They were good for each other. I loved to hear her laugh. After a stroke when she lost much of her ability to talk, she maintained her sharp mind and sense of direction. Once I picked her up to take her to the Nolt reunion. I told her the only way I knew to get there was to go back home and go from there. She said, ‘no, no.’ So I asked if she knew the way and would direct me. She nodded and off we went. Part way there i didn’t even know where I was. But sure enough she directed me at every turn and we drove to where we wanted to be.
I have many happy memories of time spent with Bernie. We had a wonderful trip to New England for a family wedding. Lots of visits and fun stories after she lived at Pleasant View. I remember so well the grace and patience with which she handled her limited ability to speak. I never saw her express anger even when I could not get what she was trying to say. Though most often we figured it out.
I will always be grateful for her loving my Dad and saying to me that she would not try to be my mother but hoped we could be friends. And we were. The pandemic and my health issues meant I saw little of her recently, but I will always remember her with fondness and admiration.

Bernie was my playmate before she was my sister-in-law. So I knew her pretty well. I am her first husband Charlie's sister and the only sibling left in my family.
One memory that stands out is when Bernie was old enough to take piano lessons. She came home and taught her younger sister the same lesson the teacher had given her.
The best memory I have had in the last twenty years is the smile she always had on her face when you would visit her even though she couldn't talk. This speaks to me of her relationship with the Lord that He was giving her peace and joy.
I remember her as being a hard-working farmer's wife and working in the fields with my brother.
