Mike was our Chapter Rules Interpreter for years when I first moved to the Lancaster area. He was an excellent basketball official and when he went to the "dark side" and became a coach he was competitive but extremely respectful of the job that we were trying to do. He recognized that no one was perfect and would just give you a look if he didn't like a call and you knew that you needed to get a better angle on the next one. He was always very pleasant and had a big smile on his face. He will be missed by so many of us that loved seeing him in the gym. My condolences to the family and will repeat the fact that he touched so many people in his life and will always be remembered.

Jen, you were just a baby when I last saw you, but feel I know you because of conversations with your dad. He and I graduated from Manheim Central and then were together at Goldey Beacom. Although we saw each other less and less over time, mostly at class reunions, we did keep in touch by phone and often had long conversations about athletics because we both continued to coach or officiate over the years. He was a good friend and will be missed. My prayers are with you and hope that wonderful memories will quickly fill the loss of today.

I was in the Manheim Central class of 1962 with Mike. I remember many found memories of those years. In our Senior year we had a great time with the performance of Oklahoma. More recently, Mike has been an active participant in our class reunions. The week of his death, our committee decided he was the one to share our class trivia. Little did we know, he would received a higher calling. He will be missed!
I am sorry I cannot attend the service. I would be there if I could.

It is with profound sadness that I received word of Mike's passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood, attended all of public school together and most of all, Mike and I shared many days and laughs together. I feel privileged to have been Mike's friend. Every time we got together over the years he always spoke about his daughter Jennifer with pride. I will always keep my memories of Mike close to my heart.

Hack taught me a lot about basketball, was my jumping coach in track and always encouraged me. He always made me laugh and over the years, we may have had a few drinks together! Cheers to a wonderful man.

Jen,
I was sorry to hear of Hacky’s passing. I have fond and funny memories of him when I visited my Dad & Kit on Lincoln Avenue and South Spruce St.
May you find peace and comfort in your faith and memories.

Jennifer, I was so saddened this morning when I opened the paper. I considered your Dad a friend and we hung out a lot many years ago. My favorite story of your Dad and I was when I was coaching the Varsity Cheerleaders at WHS (back in the early '80's) and Warwick was playing Manheim Central at home. I was so sure Warwick was going to beat Central and your Dad kept saying it would never happen. We made a bet - loser takes the other one to Tony's Mining Company for dinner. Well, the game, which was played on a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon, went down to the wire. 0-0 near the end of the game. Central had the ball and attempted a field goal, it was short, so all of us on the Warwick side, thought. That ball hit the crossbar and literally dropped over the crossbar onto the ground. Score MC - 3, Warwick - 0, time runs out. GRRRRRR.... Your Dad never let me forget it! And he got his dinner! It is a fun memory for me. Michael was a great guy, always loved hanging out with him. He will be missed. Hugs. Becky Hershey Becker

Mike was my parents “insurance man”. I can still remember his house calls and coming to our house to sell my parents prudential insurance! He was always so nice to my little sister and I and I remember he had the best smile! My condolences and prayers to his family and friends!❤️ The Randall’s
